In the logo of St. Paul’s Seminary, “IHS” stands for the Latin phrase “Iesus Hominum Salvator” meaning, “Jesus, the Saviour of Humans.”
With regard to the sword, it symbolizes Paul, and the scroll with a cross, the missionary activity Paul undertook.
Moreover, the Holy Bible represents the inspired Word of God that is a lamp unto the feet and a light unto the path (Ps 119:105).
The symbols of the chalice and the host signify Eucharist, the body and blood of Christ.
The heart in the centre links all the above components of the emblem with the entire humanity with its outpouring love and mercy.
The motto kept at the bottom “Segregati in Evangelium Christi” is taken from the Letter of Paul to the Romans (Rom 1:1). This phrase speaks of Paul who was set apart for the work of bringing Good News to the ends of the earth.
